At ClutterCheap.io, we facilitate local peer-to-peer transactions. Our refund policy balances buyer protection with seller fairness.

1. General Policy

⚡ Important: Inspect items during pickup BEFORE completing payment/transaction.

2. Refund Eligibility

2.1 Eligible for Refund:

  • Significantly Misrepresented Item: Item differs substantially from description or photos (e.g., damaged, non-functional, different model)
  • Non-Delivery: Seller fails to provide item after payment received
  • Defective Rental: Rental item is non-functional or unsafe upon pickup
  • Safety Concerns: Item poses immediate safety risk not disclosed in listing

2.2 NOT Eligible for Refund:

  • Buyer’s remorse or change of mind
  • Minor cosmetic imperfections shown in photos
  • Item doesn’t fit or match buyer’s expectations
  • Buyer didn’t read full description
  • Normal wear and tear on used items
  • Donations (free items – no refund applicable)

3. Refund Process

Step 1: Request Refund (Within 24 Hours)

Contact us immediately at support@cluttercheap.io with:

  • Order/Transaction ID
  • Detailed explanation of issue
  • Photos showing misrepresentation or defect
  • Screenshots of original listing (if available)

Step 2: Review (3-5 Business Days)

We will:

  • Review your claim and evidence
  • Contact the seller for their response
  • Compare item condition to listing description
  • Make a fair determination

Step 3: Resolution

If approved:

  • Full refund issued to original payment method
  • Refund processing time: 5-10 business days
  • Item must be returned to seller (if applicable)

4. Transaction Type Specific Policies

4.1 Sale Purchases

  • Refund Window: 24 hours from pickup
  • Condition: Must prove significant misrepresentation
  • Return: Item must be returned to seller in same condition

4.2 Rentals

  • Before Use: Full refund if item is defective at pickup
  • During Rental: Partial refund if item breaks due to pre-existing defect
  • After Rental: Security deposit returned if item returned undamaged
  • Late Returns: Additional fees may apply per rental agreement

4.3 Donations (Free Items)

  • No refunds applicable (items are free)
  • Accepted “as-is” with no warranties
  • Donor not liable for condition unless deliberately misrepresented

5. Platform Fee Refunds

If a full refund is issued, our 5% platform fee is also refunded. Partial refunds include proportional platform fee refund.

6. Crypto Payment Refunds

Cryptocurrency transactions:

  • Refunded to same wallet address used for payment
  • Refunded in same cryptocurrency used for payment
  • Subject to blockchain processing times (varies by network)
  • Buyer responsible for gas/transaction fees

7. Dispute Mediation

If buyer and seller cannot agree:

  • ClutterCheap.io will mediate based on evidence
  • Our decision is final
  • We prioritize fair outcomes for both parties

8. Preventing Refund Issues

For Buyers:

  • Read full description carefully
  • Ask questions before purchasing
  • Inspect item thoroughly during pickup
  • Test functionality before leaving pickup location
  • Take photos/video during pickup for evidence

For Sellers:

  • Provide accurate, detailed descriptions
  • Upload clear photos showing condition
  • Disclose all flaws or issues
  • Be honest about item functionality
  • Respond promptly to buyer questions
