ClutterCheap.io operates on a local pickup model only. We do not offer shipping or delivery services.

How It Works

1. Service Area

All transactions are limited to within 3 kilometers (approximately 1.9 miles) of Washington, DC.

2. Pickup Process

  1. Purchase/Reserve: Complete transaction on our platform
  2. Coordinate: Buyer and seller exchange contact info via email
  3. Schedule: Agree on pickup time and location (within 3km)
  4. Meet: Conduct safe, local pickup in person
  5. Complete: Transaction finalized upon pickup

3. Pickup Timeline

  • Recommended: Within 24-48 hours of purchase
  • Maximum: 7 days from transaction date
  • Unclaimed Items: May be relisted if not picked up within 7 days

Safe Pickup Guidelines

For Buyers:

  • Inspect item before leaving pickup location
  • Bring appropriate payment if using cash option
  • Bring transportation suitable for item size
  • Meet in well-lit, public locations when possible
  • Bring a friend for high-value items

For Sellers:

  • Have item ready and accessible for pickup
  • Provide clear pickup instructions (address, parking, etc.)
  • Be flexible with timing when possible
  • Confirm buyer identity before handing over item
  • Meet in safe, comfortable locations

Pickup Locations

Common safe pickup locations include:

  • Public parking lots
  • Coffee shops or restaurants
  • Community centers
  • Police station parking lots (for high-value items)
  • Seller’s residence (if both parties comfortable)

Why No Shipping?

  • Environmental: Reduces carbon footprint from shipping
  • Community: Builds local connections and trust
  • Cost: Saves buyers and sellers shipping fees
  • Verification: Items can be inspected before finalizing
  • Speed: Immediate exchange, no waiting for delivery

Rental Items – Pickup & Return

For rental transactions:

  • Initial Pickup: Same process as purchase
  • Return: Must be returned to owner within rental period
  • Return Location: As agreed between parties (usually same as pickup)
  • Late Returns: May incur additional fees per rental agreement

Donation Pickups

Free donation items follow the same pickup process:

  • Recipient coordinates with donor
  • No payment required (items are free)
  • First to confirm pickup gets the item
  • Pickup within 48 hours recommended

Failed Pickups

If pickup is not completed:

  • No-Show Buyer: Seller may keep payment or relist item
  • Seller Unavailable: Full refund issued to buyer
  • Mutual Cancellation: Refund issued per refund policy
